    Is Asbestos Testing Necessary?

Not sure if your Glasgow property needs asbestos testing?

If you are not planning on doing any work that may disturb asbestos-containing materials, such as decorating or renovating, then asbestos testing is unnecessary.

Nevertheless, if you plan on performing any kind of remedial work on the property, a residential or commercial building, you must arrange for asbestos testing before beginning any work, in order to determine whether asbestos is present.

You will need an asbestos survey if you need more detailed information about the location, amount, type and condition of asbestos-containing materials (ACMs), or if you are responsible for maintenance of non-domestic premises. We can assist with this process as well.

      Asbestos Sampling and Analysis

If you believe that one of your properties may contain asbestos, one of Asbestos Removal 247's dedicated surveyors can come to your location and sample materials for asbestos analysis. We look at asbestos that is commonly present in a variety of sample materials, such as fibre cement, artex, and floor tiles.

Asbestos Removal 247 sends all customer samples to a UKAS-recognized laboratory to assure the highest levels of testing and impartiality. Turnaround times are often less than 24 hours.

Asbestos Removal 247 can then walk you through the results of the study and give you the guidance you need to stay in compliance with asbestos rules.

      Affordable Asbestos Surveys in Glasgow

According to the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, any non-domestic building must have an asbestos management plan in place. Asbestos surveys can be conducted on all types of properties. A survey will often be required to manage asbestos.

This is the standard asbestos management survey, which replaces the original Type 1 and Type 2 asbestos management surveys. Essentially, the objective of this survey is to identify, in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible, the presence and extent of any asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) that may be disturbed or damaged during normal occupancy or foreseeable maintenance and to assess their condition. An Asbestos Management Plan will emerge from this survey, which will address any possible health hazards.

Re-Inspection of Asbestos: If asbestos has been found in your building, you are responsible for monitoring it periodically. During this re-inspection, ACMs are managed according to the risk they pose. These surveys are recommended every six to twelve months.

Surveys for refurbishment and demolition: These should be conducted before any refurbishment or demolition is carried out. It describes, as far as possible, all ACMs in the area to be refurbished or in the whole building if demolition is planned. In order to conduct this survey, all areas must be accessed, even those that may be difficult to access. The survey can be used as a tendering document to ensure the right contractor is chosen for the job.
